Forged clear to justify strong support at Haydock in December and while only running respectably when fourth at Warwick the following month, he looks the type to benefit from first-time headgear (sports first-time cheekpieces) and it's still early days for this 4-y-o.

Opened his account off this mark in 2m Kempton handicap hurdle for Nigel Hawke last spring. Fair fourth at Worcester the following month but has otherwise proved disappointing since Kempton and needs to get back on track on debut for new yard following an 8-month absence.

Little impact all 3 starts over hurdles this season but the handicapper has been quick to offer sympathy (now 2 lb lower than when scoring at Uttoxeter last spring) and he's finished runner-up on the Flat the last twice. Couldn't rule out.

Gained a deserved success in 2m Bangor maiden hurdle last May but finished well adrift of second-placed Captain Cool when fourth of 9 on latest start in this sphere over C&D last month. Respectable sixth in a big-field handicap on the Flat at Doncaster on Saturday.

Resumed winning ways when making all at Cartmel last summer but it's been downhill all the way since, pulled up at Carlisle on latest appearance in November.
