campaign hadn't gone to plan since landing the Irish 1000 Guineas, but having been freshened up by a 7-week break she resumed progress and indeed winning ways, well positioned throughout tracking the favourite, but finding herself a little tapped for toe when asked to quicken off the muddling gallop, momentarily passed for second before rallying in determined fashion, grinding her way to the front 50 yds from the line; tough and versatile, she is unlikely to be short of options moving forward, a return to 1¼m for the Prix de l’Opera one of those mooted.

supplemented at a cost of £35,000, she was narrowly denied in her bid to complete a quite remarkable 5-timer, as in the Irish Oaks seen to advantage the way this unfolded, slowest into stride but soon controlling the tempo, steadying the pace after 5f before winding it up again entering the final half mile, but to focus solely on the run of the race would be remiss, this a thoroughly likeable filly with a most willing attitude, one who really responded to her rider’s urgings when asked to stretch under 2f out, battling gamely despite drifting left, just unable to repel the late lunge of the winner; set to remain in training at 4, she is expected to remain a fixture in the top distaff contests for the foreseeable future.

only made her debut in April and as such has made the transition to Group-1 performer in a relatively short space of time, this just the fifth start of her career, her effort worth marking up as she came from much further back than the pair that beat her, a chance she'd might even have prevailed granted a level playing field; held up, travelled smoothly, had to wait to begin her challenge, switched off heels over 1f out, picked up well to make headway entering final 1f, kept on; entered in the Fillies and Mares race on Champions Day, she is one for the shortlist if pointed in that direction.

was given a change of headgear, a first-time visor replacing the cheekpieces that have served her so well this season, and she narrowed the gap between herself and Covert Love from the Irish Oaks, having every chance on the day, another small step forward required to make the breakthrough in the highest grade; in touch, ridden and upsides the winner over 2f out, hung left from over 1f out, kept on.

upped to Group-1 company for the first time, excelled herself, every reason to believe she would have gone even closer had things panned out differently, coming home best having been positioned worst of all in a steadily-run affair, worth crediting with the improvement in full for all there are doubts over the reliability of the bare form; dropped out, still last entering the final 2f, finished well, never nearer.

ran another solid race without being able to confirm the form of her Irish Oaks second, the type who would have benefited from a stronger gallop, though has consistently found a few too good at this level since defeating Legatissimo in the listed Flame of Tara Stakes 12 months ago; mid-division, ridden over 2f out, not quicken.

is perhaps just shy of the very best of her sex, but doesn't help herself by refusing to settle, the hood surprisingly left off for this return to 1½m (did wear in the parade ring), looking a danger to all before failing to see her race out; in touch, typically took strong hold, challenged 2f out, faltered final 1f.

Hard to call this a vintage edition of the Yorkshire Oaks despite a pair of Classic winners finishing 1-2, older horse representation thin on the ground, a steady pace putting a cap on the bare form, the runner-up allowed to dictate, little over a length separating the front 5, Martlet recording a quicker time in taking the listed race over this trip 40 minutes later.
