progressed really well at 3 yrs, acquitting himself well when stepped up to Group 1 company on his final start, and he promised an even stronger challenge at the top of the division this time round after a successful return after 7 months off; held up, travelled well, headway 2f out, led 1f out, kept on well, won readily; could yet improve still further and one to keep on right side.

ran creditably in a change of headgear, no match for the winner but holding the others at bay and confirming he retains all his ability; led until 1f out, not quicken; he was found wanting at Group 1 level last year and his only Royal Ascot entry is in the Wokingham, but there are easier races to win than this at listed level and that may offer his best chance of a win this summer.

ran respectably after 9 weeks off, down in grade, though he was essentially running through beaten horses late in the day and may be flattered somewhat; held up, headway over 1f out, kept on final 1f, nearest at the finish.

looked rusty after 7 months off, running below the level of his standout run, second in the Sprint Cup last September; mid-division, outpaced halfway, short of room 2f out, kept on final 1f; next run likely to show whether he can compete again at the highest level.

wasn't likely to be competitive in this company under a penalty and was always out the back, though he left the impression there will be better to come in the right circumstances, perhaps in the Wokingham next month, given his good efforts at the track in the past; dropped out, took keen hold, pushed along briefly 2f out, no impression, eased late on.

A race well positioned as a warm-up for sprinters with Group 1 pretentions for the summer ahead, and it again attracted a field better than listed class, the winner set for a good season at the highest level, the form having depth to it as well.

THE TIN MAN progressed really well at 3 yrs, acquitting himself well when stepped up to Group 1 company on his final start, and he promised an even stronger challenge at the top of the division this time round after a successful return after 7 months off; held up, travelled well, headway 2f out, led 1f out, kept on well, won readily; could yet improve still further and one to keep on right side.

WATCHABLE ran creditably in a change of headgear, no match for the winner but holding the others at bay and confirming he retains all his ability; led until 1f out, not quicken; he was found wanting at Group 1 level last year and his only Royal Ascot entry is in the Wokingham, but there are easier races to win than this at listed level and that may offer his best chance of a win this summer.

NAADIRR (IRE) ran respectably after 9 weeks off, down in grade, though he was essentially running through beaten horses late in the day and may be flattered somewhat; held up, headway over 1f out, kept on final 1f, nearest at the finish.

KING OF ROOKS ran creditably on his first try in an all-aged sprint, more needed to be fully competitive at this level; close up, ridden over 2f out, not quicken over 1f out.

POYLE VINNIE failed to build on the potential of last run, yet to show his best this year; chased leaders, raced freely, not quicken over 1f out.

CODE RED wasn't sure to benefit from the step back down in trip and was again below form, yet to get back in the groove this year; waited with, not settle fully, not quicken over 1f out.

BACCARAT (IRE) was closely matched with the runner-up from their meeting last time but he wasn't in the same form, not helped by being caught exposed on the wing early on; raced wide, in touch, pulled hard, weakened over 1f out.
