made the most of a good opportunity, hardly an anxious moment and not required to better previous form; handy, travelled well, led 2f out, looked in control soon after, pushed out; he's a useful sprinting 2-y-o, races like the Molecomb and Flying Childers presumably on the agenda, a bit more required for those.

built on debut promise, though needing a stiff track to show his form at 5f; in touch, outpaced before halfway, switched left over 1f out, kept on well; may do better still.

was again highly tried and ran about as well as he had in the Windsor Castle last time, being overfaced in this way not usually of long-term benefit, however; pressed leader, travelled well, led briefly halfway, not quicken under 2f out, swerved right inside final 1f.

looked the most likely to chase the winner home and disappointed somewhat after just 6 days off, pretty much the first in trouble, though perhaps unsuited by the conditions; led until halfway, not quicken 2f out, held when bumped inside final 1f.

was well held, her best form suggesting she should have been competitive for a place, and though the soft ground perhaps wasn't ideal, she just seems to have lost her way; chased leaders over 3f, weakened.

Most of these had plenty to find if The Last Lion was at his best and as he was it proved a pretty one-sided contest, maidens in second and third, though the runner-up emerged with plenty of credit.
