The last 2 renewals of this listed event have been won by subsequent pattern-race winners, Limato successful in 2014 and Tasleet 12 months ago, and Mokarris looks likely to continue that trend as he routed a field that included some other promising types, a smart performance when factoring in the extra that he undoubtedly in hand.

MOKARRIS (USA) has made a highly promising start, the Coventry simply a race to put a line through as far as he's concerned, and he was straight back on track 4 weeks on to confirm every bit of his vast debut promise, in a different league to this lot and value for plenty extra on top of the winning margin; in touch, tanked along (a little keen early on but not doing too much this time), produced to lead over 1f out, displayed a smart turn of foot to quicken clear, impressive; an exciting prospect, he'll prove best kept to 6f at this stage given his exuberance and will merit the utmost respect in next month's Gimcrack Stakes at York.

NOBLY BORN ran well upped in grade and has improved with each run so far; in rear, travelled well, headway halfway, driven entering final 1f, ran on but no match for winner; he's likely to progress further.

KODILINE (IRE) has made steady progress in the 6 weeks since his debut, coping with the step up in grade here, showing further improvement; close up, went on halfway, headed over 1f out, one paced; he will stay 7f.

TIBR (USA) got back on track and, though he still hasn't improved on debut effort, there's a suspicion that a bigger field and stronger pace than he's got so far might suit him well; held up, effort over 2f out, kept on without threatening.

MISS INFINITY (IRE) was found out in better company; led until halfway, wandered a little around under pressure and was left behind over 1f out; stepping up to 7f will suit.

SMOKEY LANE (IRE) is better judged on previous form, looking laboured, but that was the case at Sandown too, and here some barging stopped him from ever getting rolling; chased leaders, soon under pressure, bumped over 1f out, dropped away.

LEGENDARY LUNCH (IRE) is better than this; close up, raced too freely, weakening when bumped over 1f out, eased off.

FARLEIGH MAC clearly wasn't 100% on the day; prominent, not settle fully, folded tamely over 1f out, something not right.
