One of those races that would probably produce a very different result were it run again, enterprise winning the day, as Lady Pimpernel's rider took the race by the scruff of the neck early on, pressing home her advantage, the second unlucky given contrasting tactics and trouble, while none of the up-and-coming fillies made the jump, though several were better than the bare result in a rather muddling race, calling for a conservative view of the form; Albasharah refused at the stalls.

LADY PIMPERNEL plenty of miles on her clock, hence a form leap such as this was somewhat surprising, but explainable in the context of the race, lot of credit to the rider for grabbing the initiative and dictating to a tee, but completing the job was still proof of a thriving filly; soon led, with nothing else keen to, and fully exploited her control of the race, closed down 2f out but galloped on strongly, nonetheless slightly flattered by shining in a race where few others could or did.

GIFTED GIRL (IRE) looked in a rut but having her tongue tied made a big difference, right back to best, or would have been without all the trouble; made ground up easily from last but run blocked, no way through until last 1f, the front-running winner beyond recall by then, Gifted Girl doing all she could beating the rest; has the ability to impact in Group races amongst her sex.

MY SPIRIT (IRE) reputation intact, graduation merely on hold, caught out this day by immaturity relative to most in this higher class, swamped as the pace quickened over 2f out, dropping back to near-last, before regathering momentum and finishing off well, widest of all by then; dam My Renee was pattern-placed over 1½m, and My Spirit may well follow suit, in terms of both achievement and stamina.

VEILED INTRIGUE ran a similar race to winning stablemate, running above herself with the benefit of a positional edge over most, prominent, the nearest pursuer to Lady Pimpernel, unable to quicken so well as some but sticking to the task, certainly staying the new trip; several false dawns in her career, so this tactics-assisted performance may be best treated as a one-off.

PELERIN (IRE) never-nearer performances are becoming a trend, and it may be that another trip increase is in order, albeit based more on run style than pedigree; back from more of a break than previously this term, nearly 2 months, stayed on slowly but surely, hard driven, though running about as well as rating entitled.

VANITY RULES holding form, little better for reverting to 1¼m, though this was a more competitive listed event, staying the trip all the same, if anything coming back at the finish, after outpaced and bumped approaching last 1f.

TEARLESS racing career only a matter of months old, needs keeping in mind, some mitigation for fading finish in the face of sterner competition, and she shaped better than end result, the first from the pack to try to chase down winner, almost upsides 2f out, still fighting for a place 120 yds out, before tiring; this higher-level involvement might well put an extra edge on her, no surprise if she resumes progress.

CROWLEY'S LAW still going strong, maybe not yet done improving judged on this, much better than result, stamina stretched by new trip, but not before a bigger move than most could manage, getting into contention from off the pace, in a narrow second 1f out, emptied thereafter.

MUTATIS MUTANDIS (IRE) back from a break, faced another stiff task, never involved, one paced, the fact she was hampered (1f out) largely academic.

KLEO (GR) best to put a line through this, previous development far more relevant, along with how strong she was in the market; things went wrong early on, shuffled back in initial scrimmaging for position, finding herself last, needing to be brought widest to attempt a run, no further impression 2f out but the damage had already been done by then, eased in the end.
