This tends not to be the strongest of 2-y-o listed events and it's a race that lacked strength in depth this year, especially with the well-backed favourite underperforming; it was a dominant display from the front by Alicante Dawn, however.

ALICANTE DAWN completed the hat-trick up in grade and is improving in leaps and bounds, this a really useful effort even if the race lacked depth; made all, travelled well, went clear approaching final 1f, well on top finish; the Mill Reef is his reported next target, which needless to say will take a fair bit more winning, but he's open to further improvement the way he's going and will certainly merit respect at an even higher level.

PRIVATE MATTER resumed his progress and gave the impression that he's ready for a bit further, whilst he didn't handle the track quite so well as the winner either; tracked pace, ridden 2f out, got a little unbalanced on the undulations but kept on; he'll be suited by 7f and may do better still.

GRAND COALITION (IRE) ran respectably but keeps on being aimed pretty high and looks to have finished improving; mid-division, driven 2f out, not quicken, made little impression; he won't be easy to place in the short term.

KODILINE (IRE) set the standard on last month's Newbury third to Mokarris but proved to be a disappointment 7 weeks on; chased leader, labouring 2f out, weakened final 1f; his pedigree is ordinary and he's not the biggest, so may not be the sort to train on.

KOCOLLADA (IRE) faced another stiff task and her development looks to have stalled; held up, raced freely, effort over 2f out, not quicken, never a threat.

RACEMAKER was out of depth and it showed, soon under pressure and always behind.
