This looked a good renewal of this listed event, and for all that the vast majority were having their first run of the year, and that the uneasy favourite Laugh Aloud underperformed, the winner's performance looks well up to standard, her success a third successive victory in the race for her trainer.

ALJAZZI back down in trip, after 5 months off, ran right up to her best in gaining a second win at listed level; tracked pace, effort over 2f out, stayed on to lead 1f out, kept on well, pushed out; she was highly tried at times at 3 yrs, her campaign limited to 4 runs, and there could yet be more to come from her, with minor pattern company a plausible next step.

MATERIALISTIC back down in trip, after 5 months off, ran up to best on her polytrack debut, her pedigree offering the hope that this is a good platform on which to build a progressive 4-y-o campaign; in touch, travelled well, effort entering 2f out, kept on inside final 1f, nearest at the finish.

ZEST (IRE) not seen to advantage on this card in 2016 on her only previous start on this surface, did well up in grade, better than ever after 7 months off; held up, not settle fully, shaken up over 2f out, kept on final 1f, nearest at the finish; she'd worn cheekpieces on her final start at 3 yrs, but there was no sign of their being needed this time.

ROBANNE making polytrack debut, ran respectably after 6 months off for yard in good form, second at this level in the autumn and likely to be aimed at going one better through the summer; held up, effort 2f out, kept on inside final 1f; she's worth persevering with at this trip.

LAUGH ALOUD was notably easy to back, after 7 months off, and shaped as if in need of the run, having her first start on polytrack since her debut; led, shaken up over 2f out, headed 1f out, faded final 100 yds; her next run is likely to tell more about her prospects this summer.

BAHAARAH (IRE) was again below form, after another 9 weeks off, something to prove at present; held up, not settle fully, effort early in straight, made little impression.

SUMMER ICON again made little impact at this level; slowly into stride, in rear, took strong hold, shaken up straight, plugged on, made little impression.

CROWNING GLORY (FR) after 6 months off, ran about as well as could have been expected at this level, even her best form leaving her something to find; close up, ridden over 2f out, weakened final 1f.

LUCY THE PAINTER (IRE) was back in a more suitable grade and had a run under her belt, but she fared no better than in the Lincoln; held up, ridden early in straight, made no impression.

DESERT HAZE seemingly improved on her all-weather debut on her final start at 3 yrs, couldn't reproduce that form, shaping as if needing the run after 6 months off; handy, not settle fully on outer, ridden over 2f out, not quicken, weakened final 1f.
