A useful handicap won a shade cosily by one dropping in class that raced towards the fore in a modestly-run affair, only the second making inroads from behind.

INTRANSIGENT has been much better than this in his prime but resumed winning ways dropped in grade, suited by the return to further and readily on top at the line having been well positioned; prominent, led 1f out, kept on well, won readily.

JOEY'S DESTINY (IRE) again ran well after 6 weeks off, doing well under the circumstances given a stronger pace would have suited, clearly on a competitive mark and totally unexposed on all-weather; held up, headway over 1f out, stayed on; will remain of interest.

FIFTYSHADESOFGREY (IRE) returned to form from falling mark after 6 months off, back on track after a poor 2016; mid-field, headway 2f out, stayed on; on a good mark and worth considering.

VALBCHEK (IRE) has been rather up and down of late but ran creditably back in handicap company; in touch, ridden over 1f out, kept on, well positioned.

QUIXOTE (GER) is back down to a competitive mark and ran creditably back down in trip, working his away across from a wide draw; soon led, headed final 1f, no extra.

FIRMDECISIONS (IRE) is best not judged too harshly on this run, trapped wider than ideal from his draw; in touch, ridden 2f out, not quicken.

WAR DEPARTMENT (IRE) wasn't in the same form as last time back on polytrack in a change of headgear, but a stronger pace would have suited; held up, late headway.

OUTER SPACE is a more solid proposition on all-weather and ran respectably after 5 months off, not seen to best effect; held up, progress out wide 1f out, late headway, left poorly placed.

AGUEROOO (IRE) fared little better with blinkers back on; raced wide, in rear, never a threat, not ideally placed.

MULLIONHEIR failed to build on the promise of last run back up in trip; prominent, weakened final 1f.

YOUNG JOHN (IRE) was below form back on polytrack; mid-field, weakened 2f out.

BAHAMIAN DOLLAR was below form on first outing since leaving James Tate after 4 months off; raced wide, mid-field, weakened over 1f out.

DUTCH ART DEALER went the wrong way from his perfect start for this yard, worryingly showing his worst sign of temperament yet; virtually refused to race.
