faced a stiff task on chasing debut, but had clearly learnt plenty from that initial experience, relishing the testing ground as he pulled clear of the runner-up close home, the refitting of cheekpieces certainly doing no harm, this comfortably surpassing the pick of his hurdling exploits; made all, not settle fully, mistake second, tackled 4 out, asserted between last 2, forged clear; this wasn't the deepest of races, but he is open to further improvement in this sphere and one to be interested in under similar conditions.

looked well worth a try at this sort of trip and ran creditably, though was unable to match the winner late on; in touch, not always fluent, crept closer third, challenged 4 out, no extra approaching last.

was faced with a more realistic assignment, but fared no better than on chasing debut, failing to convince in the jumping department, though the manner in which he was pulled up suggests something may have been amiss; handy, not always fluent, lost place third, folded tamely approaching 5 out.

back in headgear, ran one of his better races for a long way despite typically making mistakes, though the way he emptied was disconcerting, all perhaps not well; held up, not fluent and jumped right, headway thirteenth, in touch when blundered 4 out, folded tamely, pulled up before next and dismounted.

would have won a novice at Bangor on his previous start but for unseating his 10 lb claimer at the last and was again let down by his jumping, first-time cheekpieces and the booking of McCoy failing to work the oracle; prominent, jumped appallingly and to the right once more, lost place when clouted thirteenth, folded approaching 4 out, eased off; will presumably be back on a right-handed course in future, but will nevertheless have something to prove.

All 8 ran. Fences: 19.

Winning Owner: Genesis Racing Partnership

Time: 7m 15.53s

Overrounds: Industry SP 116%, Betfair SP 99.7%

A fairly useful staying handicap on paper, though conditions and jumping errors took their toll rendering it rather less competitive in event, only the front pair giving their running; that said, the winner created a positive impression on just his second chase start, Cadeau George further emphasising the form of the Ben Pauling yard.

CADEAU GEORGE faced a stiff task on chasing debut, but had clearly learnt plenty from that initial experience, relishing the testing ground as he pulled clear of the runner-up close home, the refitting of cheekpieces certainly doing no harm, this comfortably surpassing the pick of his hurdling exploits; made all, not settle fully, mistake second, tackled 4 out, asserted between last 2, forged clear; this wasn't the deepest of races, but he is open to further improvement in this sphere and one to be interested in under similar conditions.

COPPER BIRCH (IRE) again finished well held and has yet to re-find his form this season, though there were some encouraging signs and he shouldn't be totally dismissed next time; waited with, went prominent early final circuit, weakened 4 out.
