proved better than ever as he resumed winning ways, making it 3-5 on AW this winter, the longer trip posing no problem, albeit in a race that tested speed more than stamina; soon steadied, took strong hold, steady headway home turn, quickened to lead last ½f, well on top finish; sure to go well again.

back in headgear and claimer ridden, and ran as well as he's ever done; mid-field, took keen hold, chased leader over 2f out, every chance over 1f out, kept on; he's proving consistent and will continue to give a good account.

Time: 2m 37.43s Closing Sectional: (2f): 24.2s (106.4%)

A useful handicap and solid-looking form, with the first 3 all arriving at the top of their games; the pace was modest, though that failed to prevent the winner coming from behind.

MOUNT TAHAN (IRE) proved better than ever as he resumed winning ways, making it 3-5 on AW this winter, the longer trip posing no problem, albeit in a race that tested speed more than stamina; soon steadied, took strong hold, steady headway home turn, quickened to lead last ½f, well on top finish; sure to go well again.

CELESTIAL SPHERES (IRE) had winning run ended in pursuit of the hat-trick but actually produced his best effort to date; close up, travelled well, headway to lead over 2f out, tackled over 1f out, headed last ½f, kept on; will remain of interest.

AL HAMDANY (IRE) back in headgear and claimer ridden, and ran as well as he's ever done; mid-field, took keen hold, chased leader over 2f out, every chance over 1f out, kept on; he's proving consistent and will continue to give a good account.

SOLDIER IN ACTION (FR) probably needed the run after 3 months off; led, headed over 2f out, faded over 1f out, not persevered with once held; likely to be much closer to form next time.

PORT DOUGLAS (IRE) who ran 4 times over inadequate trips in Singapore for Ricardo Le Grange (finished second in Chester Vase for Aidan O'Brien), looked rusty after 11 months off; mid-field, went in snatches, lost place 3f out, not persevered with once held; next run should reveal more.

DIODORUS (IRE) back up in trip and in first-time cheekpieces, followed a good run with a below-par one; close up, lost place home turn, soon beaten.

BAZ (FR) out of the handicap, faced a stiff task on first outing since leaving Francis-Henri Graffard after 12 weeks off; dwelt and then hampered start, never on terms.
