appreciated the drop in grade to belatedly open his account; close up, went with zest, led over 2f out, inclined to carry head high, kept going well; was simply too good on the day and clearly has plenty of ability, though his head carriage was a reminder that he isn't straightforward and whether he can back up/build on this in a more competitive scenario for new connections (was subsequently claimed by David Pipe) will be interesting to follow.

down in class, ran one of his better races of the season, this trip probably as far as he wants to go on soft ground, though this remains some way adrift of the form he was capable of last year; waited with, smooth headway over 4f out, chased leader from 2f out, kept on.

had to be walked to post and continues to disappoint, ridden more patiently on this occasion, the longer trip not an issue; in rear, pushed along over 3f out, headway 2f out, plugged on.

upped in trip, had plenty to find at the weights and ran as well as could be expected; mid-division, not settle fully, headway 4f out, one paced; remains unexposed and may have more to offer back in low-grade handicaps providing her mark isn't affected.

Non Runners: SKYTRAIN, I AM NOT HERE (IRE). Race Distance Adjustment: +11 yds

Winning Owner: Mr N. A. Jackson

Time: 2m 9.99s

Overrounds: Industry SP 113%, Betfair SP 100.5%

The winner was claimed by D. Pipe for £12,000

A claimer in which 3 of the 8 runners could be easily dismissed, the remainder mostly disappointing/frustrating types, 2 such individuals coming to the fore, Dalgig getting off the mark at the twelfth attempt; the pace was fair.

DALGIG appreciated the drop in grade to belatedly open his account; close up, went with zest, led over 2f out, inclined to carry head high, kept going well; was simply too good on the day and clearly has plenty of ability, though his head carriage was a reminder that he isn't straightforward and whether he can back up/build on this in a more competitive scenario for new connections (was subsequently claimed by David Pipe) will be interesting to follow.
