had no problem with the longer trip and followed up from last time, having the advantage of a better position than the next few home but clearly going the right way himself; disputed lead, went with zest, went on 3 out, effort next, not fluent last, responded well; should make another bold bid next time.

missed his chance from the same mark as last time but not through any fault of his own, seen to nothing like best effect and doing well to get so close under the circumstances; held up, travelled fluently, still plenty to do 3 out, headway when not clear run before next, ran on, never nearer, had a hopeless task from position; will be higher in weights next time but sure to go well again.

one of the least exposed, ran best race back up in trip after 5 months off despite things not going ideally, leaving the impression he's up to going closer still from this kind of mark another day; mid-division, lost place home turn, rallied 2 out, ran on, would've benefited from stronger gallop.

was quite well backed making a quick switch to handicaps after 5 months off and produced best effort to date, shaping as well as any with how he got into contention against a pace bias only to end on a down note; dropped out, tanked along, headway after 3 out, in touch when pushed along next, blundered last, wandered badly run-in, essentially failing to knuckle down, probably more so than can be put down to prevailing greenness; there's at least a useful level of ability to unlock provided he can be persuaded to put his best foot forward.

A slow early gallop made for a muddling handicap, though one in which the interesting horses still came to the fore, the front-running winner easily the best placed of them and the others in the frame shaping well to varying degrees.

GENEROUS RANSOM (IRE) had no problem with the longer trip and followed up from last time, having the advantage of a better position than the next few home but clearly going the right way himself; disputed lead, went with zest, went on 3 out, effort next, not fluent last, responded well; should make another bold bid next time.
