A keenly-contested handicap and solid-looking form, the winner from a stable in great nick and producing a career best in fending off a well-in rival and a less-than-exposed one.

DECIMUS (IRE) whose stable is going well, produced a career best under a more positive ride; close up, went with enthusiasm, went on before fourth, challenged from 3 out, kept on well, held on gamely.

KINGSMERE looked well-in under a penalty for his win at Cheltenham the previous week and, though unable to follow up, lost nothing in defeat, this race probably not suiting his style of racing quite so well yet shaping as though still at the top of his game; patiently ridden, travelled fluently, steady headway from eighth, effort 3 out, every chance from next, stayed on, splitting a couple of more prominently-ridden rivals, one who is similarly thriving and another who was relatively unexposed.

ONE CONEMARA (IRE) after 11 weeks off, has had a disjointed season but ran up to best and can probably find less competitive handicaps from this sort of mark; mid-field, travelled well, close up after sixth, every chance from 3 out, untidy last, kept on, proving his stamina for an easy 3m.

DRAGON'S DEN (IRE) is holding form well, doing enough to suggest he's effective at 3m on an easy course, those who beat him probably just better handicapped; dropped out, steady headway from ninth, shaken up 3 out, no further impression.

PHARE ISLE (IRE) ran a typical race; handy, went with enthusiasm, every chance approaching 3 out, folded.

STORM ALERT had possible excuses for a below-par effort, this coming just 7 days after Exeter and arguably ideally suited by stiffer tracks these days (especially when conditions aren't testing), also disappointing at Haydock earlier in the season; prominent, pushed along after ninth, outpaced approaching straight.

BATHWICK BRAVE (IRE) seems to be going through the motions; dropped out, some headway after ninth, soon done with.

MIDNIGHT CATARIA has maybe just had enough for the season and is better judged on previous form; mid-field, some headway after ninth, shaken up home turn, soon done with.

CHURCH FIELD (IRE) was below form on his second start back after an absence, the extra distance not the reason for him finishing well held; mid-field, shaken up after ninth, left behind entering straight.

HARRIS (IRE) back over hurdles, again ran poorly and certainly boasts an all-or-nothing profile this season; mid-field, ridden eighth, dropped away after next.

ZAFARABAN (IRE) faced a stiff task from out of the handicap but continues out of sorts regardless; in rear, went with little fluency, driven eighth, soom beaten and well behind when refused last.

HALUCHA (IRE) again ran poorly and just doesn't fancy it at the minute; led until after third, pushed along after sixth, lost place soon after, downed tools.
