showed much improved form from a little out of the blue, clearly relishing getting back on fibresand, also his first run over 6f here for a while, a new, good-value claimer doing the steering; disputed lead, travelled fluently, went on before halfway, drew clear over 1f out, stayed on strongly; he'll look thrown-in under a penalty here on Sunday (7f).

back in headgear, remains in good form but found the winner way beyond recall by the time he got going; handy, effort over 2f out, kept on, no match for winner.

down in trip, ran better than last time with cheekpieces and tongue strap tried back in a handicap, something to build on now, worth remembering his trainer has worked the oracle before; held up, off the bridle long way out, headway 2f out, kept on, never nearer, as though he'll benefit from return to 7f/1m.

making fibresand debut, needed run after 3 months off and had an easy enough time of things; soon steadied, shaken up over 2f out, never invovled; he'd been shaping up really well from this kind of mark on turf in the autumn, so one to keep an eye on.

making handicap debut, ran poorly, lack of experience telling to a degree, the race also not going his way; raced off the pace, ridden out wide 3f out, soon beaten; worth another chance, especially as opening mark could've been harsher.

It's hard to be sure where the winner's improvement came form, but little doubt he found a chunk of it, leaving his rivals for dead from 2f out having helped set a sound gallop, value for a useful effort.
