An up-to-scratch listed race, a couple of these already successful in this grade, while the first 2 have smart handicap form to suggest they should be effective at this level, and on the day they didn't have to improve with this unfolding in muddling fashion, the proximity of the third suggesting it may not prove the most robust piece of form.

SPARK PLUG (IRE) resumed winning ways, certainly not winning out of turn in this grade, all of his powers intact as a 6-y-o; held up, pushed along 3f out, led over 1f out, flashed tail, kept on, driven out; he's worth his place at minor pattern company.

KIDMENEVER (IRE) couldn't take his form any further, but it's not a backwards step on a relatively quick turnaround following his break; prominent, edged ahead early in straight, headed over 1f out, not quicken.

JAKE'S HILL came here straight out of maiden company and seemed to excel himself, running to a near smart level, gaining some black type, but it will be to the detriment of his handicap mark and it may not prove the most solid; led, headed early in straight, kept on, well positioned.

FRANKUUS (IRE) didn't have the chance the market suggested, and though dangerous to suggest it with one from this yard, but most of his progress seems to be behind him and he matched his previous form; mid-field, effort early in straight, one paced.

AYRAD (IRE) won this race last year ahead of Spark Plug, and had looked as good as ever on his reappearance in the Wolferton off a big weight but wasn't in the same form here, still better judged on that form given the muddling nature of this; close up, pushed along early in straight, weakened over 1f out.

FANCIFUL ANGEL (IRE) should be effective in this company judged on his handicap form but was below form after 6 weeks off, though best not judged on this run as not seen to best effect; slowly into stride, in rear, pushed along 3f out, kept on, left poorly placed.

ISOMER (USA) probably needed the run after 12 months off but had something to find at this level anyway; held up, dropped away over 2f out; he should stay this far.
