progressed again stepped up to Grade 1 company, putting to bed any doubts about his effectiveness at the trip; waited with, jumped well in main, travelled well, led on bridle approaching last, quickened clear run-in, impressive; will remain of plenty of interest and clearly a leading contender for the Golden MIller.

wasn't good enough against a potentially top novice, but he ran his best race to date and there's surely a good handicap in him at some stage, given a willing attitude and solid jumping; harried leader, pressed on after 4 out, headed approaching last, not quicken, kept on run-in but no match for winner.

up in trip for the first time over fences, did well to match his previous form, given a mixed round of jumping, remaining with potential if that can be brushed up; held up, jumped none too fluently, effort before 3 out, not quicken early in straight, kept on run-in.

was below form in first-time cheekpieces, nothing left having eventually come off second best in a battle for the lead with Baron Alco; made most until 4 out, weakened next.

ran no sort of race tried in a tongue strap, looking ill at ease from quite an early stage; waited with, already niggled at when mistake seventh, never going after, slow ninth, weakened 3 out; he'll be best judged on earlier efforts when he returns, though Cheltenham is reportedly off the agenda now.

A competitive renewal of this Grade 1 event, and even if the Nicholls-trained pair didn't help their cause with their jumping, there's no reason to doubt the winner put up a performance well up to standard for the race, looking a leading candidate for Cheltenham in the process.
