after 8 months off over 3f longer trip, probably showed improved form, relishing the step up in distance under a bold front-running ride, just the sort to pay dividends on this track; led, jumped boldly, ridden before 3 out, kept on well run-in.

over 4f longer trip, probably ran at least as well as previously over fences, the longer trip and a better round of jumping obviously helping, though there are obvious concerns about the worth of the performance; held up, travelled well, chased leader after fifteenth, ridden when mistake 2 out, no extra run-in.

had obvious claims on the pick of his novice form, but ran poorly after 7 months off, reported by his rider to have been unsuited by racing right handed (raced only left handed previously); pressed leader, jumped sketchily, hung left, lost place thirteenth; worth another chance back on a left handed track.

was well held after 8 days off, this perhaps coming too soon; held up, second when mistake fifteenth, labouring 4 out.

All 4 ran. Fences: 22.

Winning Owner: Mrs Sarah Faulks

Time: 6m 18.6s Closing Sectional: (2.75f): 43.3s (99.5%)

Overrounds: Industry SP 109%, Betfair SP 99.9%

A typically small field for this listed event and a tricky race to weigh up, 2 of the 4 clearly nowhere near their best, the experienced runner-up needing crediting with quite a lot of improvement to take a positive view of the form, though the time in relation to the veterans chase could possibly justify such an interpretation.
