Just a small field for this listed event and one run at a steady gallop to boot, so this isn't solid form, but the winner is better than this level and scored in comfortable fashion from a fairly consistent sort.

ELM PARK got back on track after 3 months off - last seen when disappointing in the Derby - and though this ready success dropped sharply in grade tells us nothing new about him in ratings terms, it does at least belatedly confirm he retains all the ability he possessed as a juvenile, whilst he also settled better back at this shorter trip; chased leader, went on after 2f, travelled well, shaken up over 1f out, required little more than hands-and-heels to maintain advantage; this drop back to 1m seems something of an afterthought though, and he'll probably struggle against the top performers in this discipline.

GABRIAL (IRE) turned in another respectable effort and though he's proved hard to win with since reappearance, he can be relied upon to give his running more often than not; waited with, crept closer 2f out, effort 1f out, one paced.

FIRE SHIP after just 4 days off, ran one of his better races of the season, acknowledging this is fairly flimsy form; made running early, headed after 2f, pushed along 3f out, stuck to task; no banker to back this up back in more competitive events.

PRINCE GAGARIN (IRE) isn't up to this level, also probably better over further, and ran poorly after 7 weeks off; tracked leaders, pushed along over 2f out, soon left behind.
