An interesting handicap on paper with a number of unexposed types in the line-up; in event, the pace was on the steady side, the leading trio to the fore throughout and a few failed to make the improvement anticipated; however, the race still appears to have unearthed a useful prospect, Prince of Stars overcoming trouble in running to win with something in hand.

PRINCE OF STARS after 3 months off, progressed again to follow up his maiden win at Chester, the margin of victory underestimating his superiority on the day; chased leader, ridden when forced to switch over 1f out, edged right but stayed on to lead final 50 yds, won readily; created a very favourable impression here and is one to keep on side, beautifully bred and with the potential to develop into a pattern performer.

HEDGE END (IRE) again ran creditably, always well placed (ridden more prominently on this occasion), unlucky to bump into one on the day; handy, went with zest, challenged 2f out, edged ahead 1f out, headed final 50 yds; it is worth reiterating that she is eligible for lesser handicaps than this and will remain of interest.

AUTOMATED got back on track making handicap debut, though appears no more than averagely treated on the balance of his form; led, tackled 2f out, headed 1f out, keeping on when short of room close home, had the run of the race.

HOOP OF COLOUR (USA) came up short in her bid to complete the hat-trick, but remains a horse to be positive about, the way she travelled raising hope that there is still a bigger performance in the locker; mid-division, smooth headway 3f out, upsides over 1f out, kept on.

MYTHICAL MADNESS making handicap debut, was not seen to best effect; waited with, ridden over 2f out, never on terms, would have benefited from a stronger gallop; worth another chance.

COMEDY KING (IRE) got warm beforehand and again ran below his maiden winning form; mid-division, not settle fully, effort over 2f out, bumped approaching final 1f, faded; still early days, but he will have a little to prove next time.

COTTON CLUB (IRE) is best not judged on this run; held up, pushed along over 2f out, made no impression, not ideally placed; capable from this mark, though as his recent efforts show, is the type who needs things to fall right.
