Of the 9 runners, 4 were hampered outright, while another 2 weren't seen to full effect as the race went, and so it was almost by default that the 3 that fronted up the pace were still there at the end, the form on paper worth little because things got so messy,

FLYMAN wins have been few and far between since 2-y-o days and this one, though an upturn on this year's form (having dropped to a career-low mark), owed plenty to where he raced, close up, with all the trouble in behind him, responding well on his part (driven 2f out) to edge ahead in the last ½f but unsure to have prevailed had 1 or 2 others got a clear run.

SNAP SHOTS (IRE) second for the third time in his last 4 starts, though holding rather than advancing his form, in against older horses this time but luckier than many of his rivals in a messy race, close up, avoiding if not causing the congestion in behind, sticking to the task for what it's worth, seeing out the trip at a rare attempt; the tongue tie made no notable difference.

NAMEITWHATYOULIKE broke through the stalls on the first load, allowed to go back and race, reproduced all of his recent progress, but pole position certainly helped in a race where a few couldn't get through, headed ½f out but able to hold third due to the misfortune of others.

RIGHT TOUCH had none of the luck he had at Pontefract (ideally drawn/positioned there) and the impression left this time was that he's in the form of his life after all, might well have followed up without the trouble, no clear run at a crucial time, over 1f out, but right on top of the first 3 at the line, not bottomed out.

ECCLESTON worth another go in the visor, as it may take more effect than it could here, in a messy race, even if sitting last (slowly away again) meant he could skirt the trouble ahead of him, going wide, needing a stronger gallop than played out.

GRISSOM (IRE) keeping busy, but holding it together well, and this doesn't do him any justice, hemmed in virtually throughout the last 2f, surrounded and unable to open up.

MASS RALLY (IRE) headgear of a different form to usual, but the main point is that these more tactical races just aren't his bag, couldn't sustain an effort that got him quite close over 1f out.

AVON BREEZE return to form when winning at Beverley might have been out of the blue, but she backed it up here, or at least would have done had she got a clear run through, no room from over 1f out as the field congested.

MISSISSIPPI doing well this season by and large, and would have added another creditable effort here without the trouble in the finish that prevented him opening up at all.
