WAFY (IRE) back down in trip, confirmed return to form, unlucky not to finish closer in fact, though he leaves a nagging doubt that he isn't really one to go overboard about; mid-division, travelled well, shuffled back over 2f out, got gap approaching final 1f, ran on, no impression on winner.

MR TOP HAT after 9 weeks off, continues in good heart, a mark in the 90's probably just too much for him, especially away from the mud; soon led, headed 2f out, rallied, edged right over 1f out, left behind by winner final 1f.

BARYSHNIKOV well backed, disappointed in first-time cheekpieces, producing very much a laboured effort; slowly into stride, raced off the pace, ridden over 2f out, kept on final 100 yds, never a threat; he'll benefit from a return to further, though there was more than the trip at play here.

HE'S AMAZING (IRE) back down in trip, hinted at a revival, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests; close up, led 2f out, headed over 1f out, hampered soon after, faded; he's not straightforward so is far from certain to back this up, though he's only 2 lb higher than for his reappearance victory should he build on this.

ATHMAD (IRE) in first-time cheekpieces, is probably in better heart than recent form figures suggest, again not getting home kept to 1m, being stuck without cover more towards the flank no help; chased leaders, took keen hold, effort 2f out, weakened approaching final 1f; he'll benefit from a return to 7f, and isn't one to give up on.

DAWAALEEB (USA) produced a rare below-par effort, though on the plus side he has fallen to his last winning mark so it would be no surprise should he be on the premises next time; prominent, effort 2f out, weakened approaching final 1f.

RAGSTONE VIEW (IRE) followed a below-par effort with an even worse one; in touch, travelled better than most, pushed along 2f out, found little.

SURREY HOPE (USA) went backwards from reappearance; chased leaders, weakened from 2f out.

SALT WHISTLE BAY (IRE) back up in trip, turned in a rare poor effort, possibly disadvantaged racing on the flank but seemingly more to it than that; raced wide, in touch, brief headway over 2f out, weakened over 1f out.
