BREDON HILL LAD produced a laboured effort; held up, hit seventh, struggling soon after; good runs outweigh the bad over fences so far, so percentage call is that he'll bounce back next time.

THE SOCIETY MAN (IRE) fared no better after 10 weeks off; took strong hold and soon handy, struggling eighth, beaten long way out.

LOST ARCA (FR) shaped as if retaining all his ability on first outing since leaving Robin Mathew after 28 months off, something forewarned by his position in the market; mid-field, untidy fifth, lost place briefly circuit out, struggling 4 out, booked for third when mistake and unseated at next; entitled to strip fitter for this and not one to dismiss out of hand.
