had been threatening more in some competitive races since headgear went on, not seen to best effect on previous 3 starts, and confirmed the promise of those runs to defy a career-high mark, heavy ground suiting if anything, showing more stamina reserves than before; held up, headway under pressure over 1f out, stayed on to lead late on, showing a good attitude; he's likely to continue in form.

shaped as if needing run after 4 months off and also deserves some extra credit for being responsible for a sound pace on testing ground (probably did too much too soon), all of it telling after he was headed over 1f out; a light campaign suggests there have been problems, though.

For the grade this wasn't so strong and competitive as some races and, although a couple that are bang in form pulled clear, they were both helped by how things developed, the leaders seeming to do a bit too much under such testing conditions.

SUZI'S CONNOISSEUR had been threatening more in some competitive races since headgear went on, not seen to best effect on previous 3 starts, and confirmed the promise of those runs to defy a career-high mark, heavy ground suiting if anything, showing more stamina reserves than before; held up, headway under pressure over 1f out, stayed on to lead late on, showing a good attitude; he's likely to continue in form.

ATHLETIC has been at the top of his game all year, progressing gradually, and this was another excellent effort in defeat, proving his effectiveness on more testing ground than previously; dwelt, waited with, travelled strongly, good progress over 2f out, led over 1f out, headed late on, well clear of the remainder; that he's consistent and versatile will continue to count for plenty.

AZAGAL (IRE) has been given a chance by the handicapper and took step back in right direction, leaving impression she should have finished closer; raced off the pace, keeping on when denied a run around 2f out, stayed on without threatening first two.

JOEY'S DESTINY (IRE) isn't fully proven on heavy ground and wasn't disgraced under the conditions; in touch, driven over 1f out, one paced.

KOSIKA (USA) after 6 weeks off, shaped better than the bare result without necessarily leaving the impression she's right back in top form; chased leaders, ridden when short of room around 2f out, one paced, raced closer to pace than ideal.

MODERN TUTOR shaped as if needing run after 4 months off and also deserves some extra credit for being responsible for a sound pace on testing ground (probably did too much too soon), all of it telling after he was headed over 1f out; a light campaign suggests there have been problems, though.

ROYAL RASCAL continues out of sorts; in touch, labouring badly halfway, soon beaten.
