The feature race on the card, but there were a few with questions to answer and only one of them did, most not on their game against a winner given an attacking ride.

IMPERIAL PRESENCE (IRE) gambled on, produced a career best for a stable now back in top form, putting his rivals to the sword under an attacking ride; led first, clear third, mistake eighth, ridden straight, kept on well; his jumping may well continue to catch him out at times and he faces a hike in the weights, but there may be more to come over fences if he stands further training.

ASHOKA (IRE) one of few coming into the race definitely in form, ran well, the only one to make much of a challenge to the winner in the latter stages; held up, travelled well, steady headway after eighth, shaken up straight, chased leader after 3 out, kept on.

VANITEUX (FR) with headgear switched again, promised more than he delivered down in grade, not one to be that interested in; travelled well, led until first, remained prominent, weakened after 3 out.

EASTLAKE (IRE) hinted at a revival from his much-reduced mark, though he's never been one to expect a better effort from next time; held up, travelled well, headway 4 out, ridden approaching next, found little.

MAX WARD (IRE) was well held after 13 weeks off, not enough in his performance to be positive about next time; held up, pushed along 4 out, weakened straight.

WORK IN PROGRESS (IRE) ran no sort of race after 5 months off; dropped out, jumped none too fluently, ridden after eighth, tailed off soon after, pulled up straight; his form lacks substance and he has a fair bit to prove after this.

RED SPINNER (IRE) offered some encouragement after 9 months off, though a serious error ended his chance and hard to say where he would have finished without it (might well have dropped away); chased leader, ridden eighth, still disputing second when bad mistake 4 out, lost all chance and pulled up straight.

PETER THE MAYO MAN (IRE) was well backed on handicap debut but ran poorly, not comfortable with the demands of the race from a fair way out; held up, not fluent sixth, reminders seventh, weakened after 4 out, pulled up last.
