didn't need to be at his best to resume winning ways and book himself an automatic spot in the 3-y-o Final on Good Friday, enhancing his excellent record on all-weather surfaces even further; in touch, headway early in straight, forced to switch 2f out, led entering final 1f, driven out; he's useful and reliable on this surface, but will be sure to face stiffer opposition on the final.

was back on all-weather and had less on his plate than in the Middle Park and ran creditably after 4 months off, going down only to one with a very good record on synthetic surfaces; close up, went on early in straight, headed inside final 1f, one paced; he might be difficult to place this year.

after 4 months off, faced a stiff task in this grade and showed improved form, the time giving substance to it and she will look well treated when she goes back into handicaps with the assessor unable to raise her for this conditions stakes run; slowly into stride, held up, shaken up early in straight, ran on late.

had something to find in this company and produced a rare below-par effort; led, headed over 2f out, hung right soon after, weakened approaching final 100 yds.

Two horses dominated the market and they duly came to the fore, though they didn't come so far clear of the third as might have been expected, probably a combination of them not quite at their 2-y-o peak and that rival improving; they went a good gallop despite the small field.
