A really competitive renewal of this listed event and, though a steady pace makes it difficult to rate the bare form too highly, it is still worth taking a positive view of the principals, particularly the winner who, on just his second start, did really well to overcome the run of the race.

CRIMEAN TATAR (TUR) who attracted support, perhaps isn't the easiest to train, off 4 months after a belated debut, but he's clearly very talented, showing much improved form to maintain his unbeaten record, doing well under the circumstances; in rear, still plenty to do entering straight but switched to outer soon after and headway under 2f out, found plenty to lead late on; will stay beyond 1½m and will go on improving, looking more than capable of making his mark at a higher level.

CHEMICAL CHARGE (IRE) wasn't at his best after 5 months off having rejoined former trainer (left G. M. Lyons) after 5 months off, but he actually shaped well, beating the rest readily but collared by an improver; prominent, raced freely, quickened to lead over 1f out, kept on, caught late on but pulled clear of remainder; he's a likeable sort and still quite low mileage, sure to remain of interest at this level and slightly higher.

CURBYOURENTHUSIASM (IRE) wasn't seen to best effect, the way this unfolded not playing to his strengths, but he shaped as if still in good form; slowly into stride, raced off the pace, ridden when hung right early in straight, headway soon after, effort over 1f out, kept on; will benefit from return to at least 1¾m and remains one to be interested in on this surface.

PRINCE OF ARRAN lost his unbeaten record on all-weather but it wasn't for lack of trying, facing a stiffer task up in grade but running well, shaping better than the bare result in fact; hampered after 1f but raced in mid-field, travelled fluently, headway when hampered again 2f out, kept on; he very much remains one to be interested in on this surface.

CLIFF FACE (IRE) after just 7 days off, ran as well as could have been expected up in grade, achieving at least what she did when winning a handicap last time; mid-field, had to wait for gap approaching 2f out, kept on; she again shaped as though she'll be suited by 1¾m.

BESS OF HARDWICK wasn't in the same form as last time but is better judged on that effort, too free on this occasion and it impacted upon her finishing effort; mid-field, took strong hold, headway end of back straight, led briefly 2f out, faded final 1f.

STAR STORM (IRE) shaped as if still in good form, far better judged on his effort here last time; raced off the pace, headway when not clear run over 2f out, switched, kept on, never landed a blow.

NOT SO SLEEPY is better judged on previous form, too free back up in trip; dwelt, in rear, pulled hard, never landed a blow; will prove best up to 1¼m.

DOGMA (FR) failed to back up dubious latest effort; mid-field, lost place over 2f out, made no impression.

ELYSIAN FIELDS (GR) again ran below form; tracked pace, every chance 2f out, weakened approaching final 1f.

LADY OF CAMELOT (IRE) ran below form, not finishing the season with the same verve as which she started, but she's been kept pretty busy and is the sort to get back on track next term; close up, raced freely, led briefly over 2f out, weakened final 1f.

EAGER BEAVER wasn't good enough up in grade, dictating until over 2f out but soon put in her place.
