showed useful form back down in trip and shaped better than the bare result, last to come off the bridle, the lack of a recent outing proving crucial as he faded towards the finish; mid-field, smooth headway to lead entering straight, driven after 2 out, headed last, weakened close home; remains open to improvement, this just his fifth start over hurdles after all.

A race that lost some of it's lustre with the late withdrawal of last season's Champion Hurdle runner-up My Tent Or Yours, though it produced an exciting finish, Hargam edging out Court Minstrel in a duel on the run-in, the strong-travelling Mister Miyagi fading at the last as the lack of a recent run told.

HARGAM (FR) showed the benefit of his reappearance run a fortnight earlier, scoring for the first time since February 2015; held up, first off the bridle, went second early in straight, edged ahead last, dug deep under pressure.

COURT MINSTREL (IRE) returned to something like his best back down in trip after 6 months off; in rear, still last entering straight, good progress approaching 2 out, close up last, kept on.
