returning from another lengthy injury-enforced absence, was suited by the conditions of the race but showed he is still capable of top-class form, impressing with how quickly he put the race to bed and seeing out the longer trip despite the conditions; held up, went with enthusiasm, mistake seventh, went on before 5 out, clear next, in control when untidy last, impressive; is reportedly set to drop back to 2m next time, the Paddy's Rewards Club Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas an obvious target.

ran at least as well as last time, but did so in laboured fashion and there was an element of him picking up the pieces; close up, lost place early final circuit, headway under pressure before home turn, took second 2 out, kept on without troubling winner.

ended last season on a bit of a low note and this has to go down as another lacklustre display after 7 months off; tracked pace, jumped fine, went second 3 out, driven entering straight, effort flattened out.

The latest renewal of Clonmel's big race of the year attracted a couple of star names, notably Douvan, and he didn't disappoint on his eagerly awaited return to action.

DOUVAN (FR) returning from another lengthy injury-enforced absence, was suited by the conditions of the race but showed he is still capable of top-class form, impressing with how quickly he put the race to bed and seeing out the longer trip despite the conditions; held up, went with enthusiasm, mistake seventh, went on before 5 out, clear next, in control when untidy last, impressive; is reportedly set to drop back to 2m next time, the Paddy's Rewards Club Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas an obvious target.

JETT (IRE) ran at least as well as last time, but did so in laboured fashion and there was an element of him picking up the pieces; close up, lost place early final circuit, headway under pressure before home turn, took second 2 out, kept on without troubling winner.

MONALEE (IRE) ended last season on a bit of a low note and this has to go down as another lacklustre display after 7 months off; tracked pace, jumped fine, went second 3 out, driven entering straight, effort flattened out.
