may even be a contender for the Winter Derby at this rate, improving in leaps and bounds, with exactly the right profile to do a lot more in a little time; picked up where he left off in the autumn and did more besides, covering a lot of ground in the home straight, not his fault initially, carried right by First Mohican, before hanging left himself towards his target, his sweep all the more impressive in the context of the steadily-run race, on his first go at the trip; another good handicap will act as more of a graduation, but the suspicion is that he's listed class, at the least, sometimes no stopping these Godolphin horses on a winter roll.

yet to convert it into a win but has made improvement for this yard, though this run is slightly flattering on him, at a big advantage in dictating, well ridden to exploit it, battling away and collared only by something out of the ordinary.

as good as ever, but ability has never been the problem with him, some flaw in his make-up explaining a losing run of over 2 years; had a job on from his position, in the last pair, closing slowly but surely, but no saying he'd have done better under different circumstances.

playing in a different league now, still 8 lb out of the weights even after handicap hike, underlined all of his end-of-year progress and probably a bit more, not beaten far, though no win threat in a muddling race.

inconsistency forgivable at his age, followed his win with this lesser effort, well positioned but hanging right under pressure, flattening out, this test on the sharp side for him now.

missed 2015, having knocked on the listed door the year before, and this comeback contained more encouragement than the bare result, plenty to do (held up) as it went but doing some good work in the penultimate furlong before excusably tiring, spared a hard race.

Another good-quality handicap at the track, though the bunched finish rather puts a cap on the form, the steady pace influential, the race developing into a sprint, but the best horse still emerged on top, value for more.
