improved again to make a winning start in handicap company but was seen to maximum effect and had nothing to spare; made all, ridden 2 out, tackled run-in, kept on gamely to hold on, albeit having had the run of the race; he ought not to go up much for this and the fact he's so genuine will always stand him in good stead.

There was a reluctance for anything to lead in this 5-runner affair and Danny Cook used that to his advantage, dictating matters with Blottos and holding off a pair that arguably shaped better in only just failing to wear him down.

BLOTTOS (IRE) improved again to make a winning start in handicap company but was seen to maximum effect and had nothing to spare; made all, ridden 2 out, tackled run-in, kept on gamely to hold on, albeit having had the run of the race; he ought not to go up much for this and the fact he's so genuine will always stand him in good stead.

SLANELOUGH (IRE) continues to progress, just denied from 8 lb higher than for his Doncaster win, beaten by one that had the run of the race too; chased leaders, ridden before 2 out, disputed second last, kept on.

LORD BALLIM (FR) who won this race last year, bounced back to his best to be a close third from 17 lb higher 12 months on; patiently ridden, jumped none too fluently, travelled strongly, headway 3 out, disputed second last, one paced.

TOMNGERRY (IRE) back over hurdles, ran respectably but was well positioned; pressed leader, driven before 2 out, lost second last, no extra.

SAKHEE'S CITY (FR) ran one of lesser races; in touch, lost place 3 out, turned it in.
