A Coronation Stakes lacking the winners of the One Thousand Guineas and the Pouliches made for just an average renewal, fillies placed in those races taking first and third, the Irish Guineas winner Jet Setting not at her best; it was a messy race too, with at least 5 meeting trouble in running, though the winner scored with something in hand and might have prevailed anyway, the first 3 in general worth viewing positively; the principals all came from off the pace, though the pace seemed a sound one, rather than overly strong.

QEMAH (IRE) proved better than ever, doing well, given that a few things weren't ideal for her early on, though she had a clearer run than most; raced wide, held up, not settle fully, headway over 2f out, led final 1f, kept on well, won readily; will continue to give a good account.

NEMORALIA (USA) looked to hold leading claims on her win at York, but failed to confirm that form on easier ground in this better grade, meeting some trouble, but not to the extent of the third and essentially not good enough; waited with, travelled well, not clear run over 2f out, chased leader over 1f out, kept on well final 1f, made little impression; she may yet confirm her form last time under different conditions and remains of interest.

ALICE SPRINGS (IRE) clearly hadn't been at her best at Deauville, the race a bit quick after Newmarket, and she bounced back, proving at least as good as ever, though would at the least have run the winner close had she had a trouble-free passage; held up, travelled well, switched left when not clear run early in straight, waiting for gap when hampered 2f out, still plenty to do over 1f out, kept on well, nearest at the finish; sure to be of interest again.

NOW OR NEVER (IRE) ran creditably, getting the better of Jet Setting this time, though it was more a case of that one being below par, and she had an untroubled passage, in contrast to the pair just in front of her; chased leaders, ridden over 2f out, led briefly over 1f out, one paced.

PROMISING RUN (USA) back down in trip, ran creditably, without perhaps finding it suiting her so well as the way she ran at York might have suggested; chased leaders, not quicken early in straight, kept on inside final 1f; she's smart, but probably not the easiest to place.

ASHADIHAN ran about as well as could have been expected upped in grade, though there was an element of running through beaten horses about her effort; in rear, ridden approaching straight, headway 2f out, stayed on gradually final 1f, made little impression.

JET SETTING (IRE) wasn't in the same form as last time, less testing ground and a trip away from home possible factors, as well as this coming soon enough after her win at the Curragh; led, travelled well, ridden 2f out, headed over 1f out, found little; she had changed hands for £1.3 million at the London Sale earlier in the week, presumably having a value as a broodmare, even if she recoups little of that on track.

TANAZA (IRE) fared a lot better than she had in the Irish Guineas and would have run her best race by some way had she had a clear passage at any stage in the straight, meeting loads of trouble after travelling well; waited with, travelled well, no room from over 2f out, shaken up over 1f out, keeping on when snatched up inside final 1f, not recover, not knocked about; remains capable of better.

NATHRA (IRE) was closely matched with the winner on Deauville running, but failed to reproduce that effort, below her Guineas form as well; chased leaders, ridden entering straight, no extra over 1f out.

BESHARAH (IRE) was well held, a lot further behind the winner than at Deauville, interference suffered only making a marginal difference; in touch, ridden early in straight, held when hampered under 2f out.

FIREGLOW wouldn't have made the first 3 in all likelihood, but was much better than the bare result; prominent, every chance under 2f out, getting tapped for foot just behind leaders when badly hampered over 1f out, not recover, eased off.

MARENKO was up markedly in grade back on turf and finished well held; chased leader, weakened 2f out.

CZABO had a lot on back at this level and wasn't up to the task; raced wide, handy, weakened over 1f out, hung right.
