restricted to just 2 outings since his 3-y-o campaign, h had shaped as if retaining ability whilst in need of the run after 14 months off in the Palace House, but this level of progress was wholly unexpected, gaining a first win on turf in this Group 2, suited by the way the race developed as he cut down more positively-ridden rivals in the shadow of the post; waited with, headway 1f out, found plenty to lead final strides; the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot would appear an obvious next target, but he will need to improve on this form as it stands, and it is anticipated he will find a few too strong.

the sole member of the classic generation, ran an absolute cracker on his reappearance, especially considering he chased the pace throughout and was carrying a penalty for his win at Maisons-Laffitte in November; in touch, led narrowly 1f out, kept on gamely, headed dying strides; a thoroughly likeable individual, he has yet to finish out of the first 3 in his career and looks set for a fine second season.

failed to score in 2014 and had been below his best on both previous starts this year, but he returned to form, aided by the strong pace as he improved upon sixth-place finishes in the past 2 renewals of this, suited as much as any by the way things took shape; in rear, ridden over 1f out, keeping on when forced to switch final 1f, finished well.

lightly raced for his age, announced himself as a smart handicapper last season, winning a valuable contest over C&D and the Portland at Doncaster, this year all about making the transition to Group company, and although coming up short on his first attempt, this is certainly the level at which he belongs, this sure to serve a purpose for the weeks and months ahead, simply a shade too fresh for his own good in the early stages, it to his credit that he stuck on as well as he did having gone so hard; led, pulled hard, headed over 1f out, kept on; remains open to improvement and would be fancied to reverse the form with those in front of him should they meet again.

fresh from a win in the Abernant and runner-up in this 12 months ago, again ran well, beaten a similar distance to last year despite finishing sixth, in the firing line from the word go and only giving best in the final strides; unable to dominate as at Newmarket he helped force the pace throughout, still upsides 50 yds out, no extra close home.

one of the potential stars of the sprint division this season, purchased by Godolphin having maintained his unbeaten record in the Bengough Stakes at Ascot in he may have ultimately failed to meet expectations on his return but still offered plenty to work on, the benefit of this experience/outing unlikely to be lost on him; mid-division, not settle fully, shaken up 2f out, one paced; should prove a more formidable force next time, though it is worth noting that he has raced only on good going or softer to date.

All 15 ran.

Winning Owner: Mrs Fitri Hay

Time: 1m 10.65s Closing Sectional: (3f): 36.05s (98%)

Overrounds: Industry SP 118%, Betfair SP 100.5%

A shock winner and the overriding feeling is that this was a slightly muddling renewal of the Duke of York, the market leaders not at their best for one reason or another, just over ½ length covering the first 6, this probably a result to treat with a degree of caution, a slow finishing sectional backing up the visual impression that those in front were wilting close home, Glass Office coming from a long way back to get up on the line and defy odds of 40/1.

GLASS OFFICE restricted to just 2 outings since his 3-y-o campaign, h had shaped as if retaining ability whilst in need of the run after 14 months off in the Palace House, but this level of progress was wholly unexpected, gaining a first win on turf in this Group 2, suited by the way the race developed as he cut down more positively-ridden rivals in the shadow of the post; waited with, headway 1f out, found plenty to lead final strides; the Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot would appear an obvious next target, but he will need to improve on this form as it stands, and it is anticipated he will find a few too strong.

CASPAR NETSCHER back from a stint in Dubai, proved himself at least as good as ever, just touched off as he attempted to concede upwards of 3 lb to his rivals; in touch, effort 2f out, every chance final 50 yds, kept on.
