progressed again in first-time cheekpieces and followed up from last time, defying an 8 lb higher mark in a stronger handicap; chased leader, led over 2f out, edged right, found plenty; a likeable type, he will stay further than 1½m and could make a cracking hurdler.

lost his unbeaten record but ran well and would've at least gone very close if he'd kept straight, not having a problem with the even longer trip or softer ground; in touch, went prominent early in straight, driven over 2f out, wandered badly, going right then left, challenged inside final 1f, always just held but kept on and pulled clear of remainder.

had no problem with the 1f longer trip and would probably have benefited from more of an end-to-end gallop, still looking in form and spared a hard race once it was clear he wouldn't get to the first 2; held up, pushed along over 3f out, one paced, not unduly punished.

There were 3 last-time-out winners in this small-field affair and it was fairly competitive despite the lack of runners; the pace eased after 2f before picking up again in the straight.

ZACK MAYO progressed again in first-time cheekpieces and followed up from last time, defying an 8 lb higher mark in a stronger handicap; chased leader, led over 2f out, edged right, found plenty; a likeable type, he will stay further than 1½m and could make a cracking hurdler.
