A fairly useful handicap, albeit one short on well-treated runners, the winner looking to have his rivals covered from some way out and shooting clear on the run-in.

NOVIS ADVENTUS (IRE) showed improved form to score emphatically in first-time cheekpieces after 8 weeks off, delivering all he promised (unlike at Ffos Las last time); patiently ridden, travelled strongly, not fluent fifth, headway on bridle, second when untidy 2 out, produced to lead last, quickened clear, hands-and-heels ride.

MALTON ROSE (IRE) after 9 weeks off, ran as well as could be expected from a mark which still looks on the high side; chased leader, second 3 out, ridden after, not quicken.

UTILITY (GER) back up in trip and without the headgear this time, turned in another sour display; reluctant to line up and slowly away, in rear, reminders after fifth, some headway home turn (rider dropped whip leaving back straight), merely plugged on.

TALENT TO AMUSE (IRE) fit from the Flat, was beaten by more than lack of stamina over the longer trip, extremely weak in the betting and performing accordingly; patiently ridden, clouted 4 out, beaten when not fluent last 2.
