after 5 weeks off, completed the hat-trick in workmanlike fashion, again not quite reproducing the level as for his Lingfield success in November, but again showing what a straightforward sort he is; made running, quickened home turn, pushed along early in straight, tackled final 1f, dug deep under pressure.

after 8 weeks off, had a fairly stiff task conceding 3 lb to a smart sort and ran up to his best, making that one pull out all the stops and emerging as the best at the weights on the day; chased leader, travelled fluently, shaken up 2f out, kept on well, every chance final 1f, ran on.

better judged on previous form as he was on the back foot from the outset here; very slowly away (blindfold removed late), in rear, latched onto other pair around halfway, ridden under 3f out, left behind from 2f out.

A smart trio lined up for this minor event and the pair who fought out the finish both ran somewhere close to their best, the penalty carried by the runner-up making the difference; the gallop only really picked up from halfway.
