without a tongue strap this time, took advantage of a drop in the weights as he ended long losing run, seen to maximum effect; in touch, headway end of back straight, led 3f out, kicked on home turn, ridden out; circumstances unlikely to be so favourable next time.

shaped as if still in good form and would have finished second but for his rider easing up late on (rider later reported that he felt the horse lose his action, horse subsequently found to be lame); close up, every chance entering straight, hung left inside final 1f, eased final strides and lost second on line.

in first-time tongue strap (reportedly suffered breathing problem last time), ran best race on his second start in handicaps, probably doing just about all he could from a poor position; waited with, still plenty to do entering straight, ran on, never nearer; he's far less exposed than most he'll meet at this level.

ran respectably, not ideally served by the run of the race though his finishing effort was still lacking a little; mid-field, travelled well, had to wait for gap home turn, every chance entering straight, not quicken.
