improved further to follow up his win at Chelmsford, the recipient of a good ride, Shane Gray at pains to keep him covered up for as long as possible to avoid any of the antics that tainted his previous victory; patiently ridden, tanked along, switched off rail and made headway over 1f out, produced to lead final 100 yds, asserted close home to score cosily under hands-and-heels ride; clearly not 100% straightforward, it is to be hoped his quirks can be kept in check, the ability certainly there to carry on progressing for a while yet.

without the headgear this time, returned to form, bumping into one on the day, though having had plenty of chances of late he is a frustrating sort overall; in touch, effort approaching 2f out, edged left but led 1f out, headed final 100 yds, kept on.

back on the all-weather, shaped encouragingly on first outing since October, evidently retaining plenty of ability, this likely to provide the springboard for another assault on some of the top 7f/1m handicaps in the months ahead, this trip probably as far as he wants to go; held up, headway 2f out, forced to switch soon after, kept on.

had competition up front, but just appears to have lost his edge in recent weeks; chased leader, upsides halfway, edged ahead 2f out, headed 1f out, no extra.

found his run of good form coming to a halt, this a better class of handicap than those he has been contesting and indeed winning of late; led, joined halfway, headed 2f out, faltered.

Overrounds: Industry SP 115%, Betfair SP 99.7%

Just the 6 runners, one of whom could be readily dismissed, but a useful handicap nevertheless, Tryster taking another step up the ladder, the talented but tricky 4-y-o cutting through the field to win with seemingly plenty in hand; Spes Nostra ensured the pace-setting Pivotman was kept honest but the gallop was no more than fair.
