followed up from last time, defying the 8 lb rise and continuing his progress; in touch, travelled smoothly, chased leader 3 out, led on bridle between last 2 as front-runner tied up, kept up to work as one from right out the back gave him something to think about; a likeable type, he'll continue to give a good account, but even more will be needed from what is likely to be a mark in the 120s next time.

has been harshly enough dealt with by the handicapper, up 10 lb for Carlisle, but is holding his form and again ran well, albeit helped by being held up in a strongly-run race; in rear, mistake 3 out, headway under pressure next, stayed on; likely to continue in form but probably doesn't have much - if anything - in hand of this mark and may go up some more now, albeit with improvement still very possible if he's upped in trip.

who was fitted with a tongue strap, looks favourably handicapped, some of his novice form strong, and shaped much, much better than the bare result on this handicap debut; forced pace, travelled strongly, well clear 3 out, reduced advantage next, not fluent there and headed between last 2, no extra, ridden too aggressively; capable of better than he's achieved to date and is very much one to keep an eye on.

proved to be a disappointment, possibly finding this coming too soon after falling here 11 days ago, that or he was amiss; held up, took strong hold, crept closer after fourth, ridden home turn, folded tamely.

A couple that are at the top of their game fought this out but the bare result doesn't tell the whole story of this race, Midnight Thunder shaping really well under an overly-agressive ride from the front, with the second in particular benefiting from the way the race developed.

KEEL HAUL (IRE) followed up from last time, defying the 8 lb rise and continuing his progress; in touch, travelled smoothly, chased leader 3 out, led on bridle between last 2 as front-runner tied up, kept up to work as one from right out the back gave him something to think about; a likeable type, he'll continue to give a good account, but even more will be needed from what is likely to be a mark in the 120s next time.
