without the headgear he wore on his final start last season, put up an improved effort to come out on top after 6 months, back at a track where he won over hurdles; mid-division, travelled well, headway 4 out, upsides 2 out, asserted run-in, stayed on well; he can be competitive from higher marks, but has been inconsistent so far.

ran well on form after 7 months off and might even have justitied strong support but for 2 significant late errors; pressed leader, led thirteenth, mistake 4 out, headed when clouted 2 out, rallied run-in; he's a useful chaser and really should be winning races in this sphere before long (still a novice).

has been given a chance by the handicapper and shaped as if better for the run after 5 months off; dropped out, not fluent thirteenth, headway 4 out, in touch when shaken up after next, weakened home turn; he stays this far but is at least as effective around 2½m.

back under a fully-fledged rider having won under a good 7-lb claimer on his final start last season, probably needed the run after 5 months off but looks too high in the weights at the minute; led until twelfth, mistake next, weakened.
