Plenty of these weren't on their game but it's form that can be viewed positively with regards the principals, each of the first 3 well handicapped; a sound gallop ensured it was a fair race tactically.

COURT FRONTIER (IRE) was well-in back over hurdles, able to race from the same mark as when winning over fences just 6 days earlier, and neither the quick turnaround or longer trip proved a problem as he followed up; patiently ridden, travelled smoothly, headway from seventh, chased leaders before 2 out, led last, stayed on; he's already set for a 13 lb rise over fences (may be similar in this sphere), so it'll be tougher next time, but he's clearly in top form.

DESERT RETREAT (IRE) improved in first-time blinkers, looking a different proposition, and was unlucky to bump into one; chased leaders, jumped more fluently than usual and travelled well, close up 4 out, led before 2 out, headed last, kept on, pulled clear of remainder; if the headgear works as well a second time then he's sure to go well again.

AWAYWITHTHEGREYS (IRE) turned in his best effort of the season behind a well-treated pair; close up, travelled better than usual, led second, mistake 3 out, headed before next, held when mistake last; he's not one to hold his form for long, though.

DELGANY DEMON was back over hurdles after 7 weeks off and ran respectably; chased leaders, not always fluent, outpaced after 4 out, plugged on; he could be the sort to benefit from headgear.

SPELLBOUND stepped up on her comeback run, shaping better than the distance beaten suggests, the 4f longer trip just stretching her in the end; held up, travelled better than most, took closer order after seventh, chased leaders after 3 out, weakened next, outstayed; she's likely to prove best up to 3m and is on a fair mark (may drop a bit more ahead of next time).

GODSMEJUDGE (IRE) was below form on his first start over hurdles for the best part of 2 years; chased leaders, ridden eighth, left behind after 3 out.

CATCHING ON (IRE) seems to have lost his way; mid-division, mistake fifth, ridden 5 out, weakened after 3 out.

SIXTY SOMETHING (FR) back over hurdles and in a first-time tongue strap, clearly wasn't 100% on the day; led until second, remained prominent, reminders early final circuit, lost place quickly, pulled up after seventh, seemed amiss.

MONT CHOISY (FR) ran poorly after 8 weeks off; raced well off the pace, made mistakes and went with little fluency, made no impression.

TOP BILLING wasn't on a going day; chased leaders, raced indolently, lost place after fifth, behind after next, pulled up; has a suspect attitude.

BALLYWILLIAM (IRE) in first-time blinkers, ran a moody race; raced off the pace, went in snatches, struggling badly after eighth, pulled up.

MOIDORE ran no sort of race after 9 weeks off; in rear, early reminders, struggling when awkward 4 out, pulled up.
