didn't need to improve upon Lingfield run to gain compensation, though the way things developed only served to mask his superiority on the day; held up, pulled hard over this 4f longer trip, crept closer sixth, loomed up home turn, still to be asked for effort when mistake last, stayed on to lead line; he isn't entirely straightforward but would have benefited from a stronger gallop and is sure to improve when granted such a scenario, whilst he can't go up much in the weights for this success, so he'll remain of interest.
held up, headway 6th, loomed up home turn, mistake last, led line

after 10 months off and upped markedly in trip, left hurdling form he showed for this yard last season well behind making chasing/handicap bow, this more in line with his standout effort in France; close up, jumped soundly, upsides twelfth, led on bridle between 3 out and 2 out, tackled run-in, headed line; this is flimsy form, though, so it remains to be seen if he can back this up in a deeper contest.

was strong in betting after 8 months off (despite being 4 lb out of weights) and ran creditably, acknowledging that he had the run of things to some extent; made running, joined twelfth, on and off bridle from that point, headed after 3 out, no extra between last 2 fences; will remain vulnerable to anything progressive despite falling mark.
led, joined 12th, headed after 3 out, no extra between last 2

minus the hood he wore in 3 nondescript efforts over hurdles, fared no better making chasing/handicap bow; mid-field early, pecked badly at first, lost place when slow at fourth, left behind as soon as tempo lifted on final circuit, looked held when hampered 2 out.
mid-field, not fluent, soon beaten back straight

after 6 months off, was in the process of showing a bit more than in handful of starts over hurdles when falling 2 out; held up, crept closer sixth, made mistakes final circuit, already weakening and booked for fourth when departing.

A weak novice handicap run at a sedate gallop for the most part, so form to treat with caution as a result; that said, Arthamint scored in spite of how things panned out, making him value for a fair bit extra on top of the bare margin.

ARTHAMINT didn't need to improve upon Lingfield run to gain compensation, though the way things developed only served to mask his superiority on the day; held up, pulled hard over this 4f longer trip, crept closer sixth, loomed up home turn, still to be asked for effort when mistake last, stayed on to lead line; he isn't entirely straightforward but would have benefited from a stronger gallop and is sure to improve when granted such a scenario, whilst he can't go up much in the weights for this success, so he'll remain of interest.
