The market struggled to find a favourite, finally going with American Legend, but he never really gave his supporters much hope of success, Urculin continuing his fine spell with a fourth victory since mid-April; the tempo picked up as they started down the back straight on the second circuit, plenty soon enough as it turned out, only 4 of the septet completing.

URCALIN (FR) who went largely ignored by the market - just one of his rivals sent off at longer odds - resumed his progress to make it 4 wins from his last 6 starts over hurdles/fences; mid-division, went prominent thirteenth, upsides when left clear 2 out, eased close home; will continue to give a good account, though the handicapper will no doubt catch up with him at some stage.

HORATIO HORNBLOWER (IRE) ran creditably. possibly just needing the run after 6 months off, still with room for improvement in his jumping; held up travelling better than most, not always fluent, headway from halfway, ridden 3 out, left second next, held when untidy last.

AMERICAN LEGEND (IRE) wasn't disgraced, but looked a hard ride, producing a laboured effort; in rear, headway under pressure from 5 out, keeping on when hampered 2 out, merely plugged on.

PERFECT TIMING again ran below form, in the grip of the handicapper in any case; led, headed approaching seventh, driven before twelfth, no further impression.

OFF THE GROUND (IRE) had been given a chance by the handicapper on his first outing for 5 months, his BHA mark as high as 147 when in the care of Emma Lavelle, and was in the process of running at least creditably - albeit just coming to the end of his tether - when departing late on; tracked pace, travelled well (bit keen early), untidy third, led before seventh, pressed on twelfth, joined when fell 2 out; without headgear/tongue strap on this occasion and seemingly retains plenty of ability, hopefully none the worse for his late mishap.

TALES OF MILAN (IRE) fared no better than previously this term (over hurdles) in another change of headgear; mid-field, went prominent before halfway, pushed along after eleventh, untidy thirteenth, beaten soon after; something to prove at present.

GALLERY EXHIBITION (IRE) failed to complete after 5 months off, unable to recover after a mid-race error; prominent, bad mistake sixth, lost place eleventh, pulled up before next.
