fairly useful and likeable over hurdles, bettered that form as he made a successful debut over fences, taking to it well even if he'd probably have finished second but for Zizaneur's unseat 3 out; patiently ridden, jumped well, took closer order early final circuit, went second early in straight, left in front 3 out, effort between last 2, had bit in hand (value another 2 lengths); based on this round of jumping, there'll be improvement in him in this sphere.

without the headgear this time, ran well, a marked change of tactics doing him no harm; led-in at start, held up, not fluent second, third, headway after 4 out, left in a place 3 out, went second next, kept on; he might be best kept to the smaller tracks such as this (lacks scope).

was below form in first-time cheekpieces after 11 weeks off and isn't especially likeable; held up, in touch 5 out, lost place after next, beaten straight, behind when blundered last.

sent chasing, looked right back in form after 7 weeks off and almost certainly would have won but for unseating 3 out (1.08 in-running at time of departure); mid-division, travelled well, jumped on 4 out, going well in 4-length lead when unseated owner/rider next; he's up to gaining compensation.

Zizaneur would've won but for unseating 3 out, though Our Merlin had also taken well to chasing, and it's worth taking a fairly positive view; the pace was sound.

OUR MERLIN fairly useful and likeable over hurdles, bettered that form as he made a successful debut over fences, taking to it well even if he'd probably have finished second but for Zizaneur's unseat 3 out; patiently ridden, jumped well, took closer order early final circuit, went second early in straight, left in front 3 out, effort between last 2, had bit in hand (value another 2 lengths); based on this round of jumping, there'll be improvement in him in this sphere.

ENVOYE SPECIAL (FR) well backed, ran creditably, seeing things out better back down in trip; pressed leader, upsides third, went on sixth, ridden when headed 4 out, left second 3 out, one paced.

SNAPDRAGON FIRE (IRE) was below form in first-time cheekpieces after 11 weeks off and isn't especially likeable; held up, in touch 5 out, lost place after next, beaten straight, behind when blundered last.

COURT ROYALE (IRE) again ran below form; held up, not always fluent, outpaced home turn, soon beaten.
