after 3 months off, showed improved form on just his second start in a handicap; held up, crept closer from 4 out, stayed on to lead between last 2, ridden out; it's not out of the question there's better to come from him still, though his mark does mean he'll have little option but to contest top-end handicaps from now on.

ran well, just undone by a 15 lb rise in weights for win here previous month; made running, jumped fluently, ridden when pecked 2 out, headed soon after, kept on, pulled clear of rest.

making handicap debut, again didn't see things out as well as he might, but it's possible connections are still feeling their way with him to some extent, and there was enough in the way he travelled for a long way to think he'll come good at some stage; patiently ridden, went with enthusiasm, shaken up entering straight, one paced soon after.

A useful handicap, the front-running runner-up a good guide to the value of the form and the winner improving, the pace having been sound.
