RED RIVERMAN made light of a 6 lb rise in the weights to follow up his recent Uttoxeter success; close up, jumped soundly in main, travelled best, went on 5 out, shaken up entering straight, tackled approaching last, had bit in hand; will remain well treated on old form when bidding for a hat-trick, the handicapper with little licence to be too penal given the nature of this victory.

CAPE CASTER (IRE) kept the mistakes to a minimum this time and ran creditably as a result; waited with, took keen hold early, awkward 2 out, went second last, not quicken.

CANICALLYOUBACK had the run of the race and bettered recent efforts; made running at a steady pace, headed 5 out, pushed along before next, untidy 3 out, still close up when not fluent last, no extra.

IRISH THISTLE (IRE) without the usual headgear, once again had plenty on racing from well out of the handicap, 19 lb 'wrong' on this occasion; chased leaders, slow fifth (water jump), off the bridle soon after, left behind 3 out.
