The second running of this contest as a Group 3, and a well-up-to scratch performance from the winner, her smart effort suggesting she's on her way to an even higher grade; the pace was sound.

LA RIOJA had looked a good prospect when winning her maiden at Newbury 9 weeks earlier, and upped to Group company straight away, confirmed all and more of that, this a smart effort, one that suggests she's going to hold her own in even more esteemed company; mid-field, tanked along, quickened to lead over 1f out, forged clear; she's not in the Cheveley Park, but she can be supplemented and it's the obvious place to go with her, already good enough to place in a typical renewal and with the prospect of more to come.

WHATDOIWANTTHATFOR (IRE) ran to a similar level as to last time, confirming that she's useful, but it's the second time that she's come up short in pattern company, no reason to think that is going to change any time soon; held up, headway soon after halfway, challenged over 1f out, ran on.

UNILIT (IRE) faced a stiff task in this grade and ran as well as could be expected, though earning valuable black type in the process, though not improving, relying on the underperformance of others to plug into a place late on; in rear, pushed along before halfway, forced to switch over 1f out, one paced.

MAYFAIR LADY stood out on form, little reason to crab her York effort, backed up by the time with the third also since coming out and winning in listed company but she proved a let-down, that big effort perhaps leaving a mark as she was in nothing like the same form just a fortnight on, though the more testing conditions also offer an excuse; chased leader, led over 2f out, headed approaching final 1f, weakened.

BAHAARAH (IRE) on softer ground than previously, was well held up in grade, but remains better judged on her previous winning nursery form; patiently ridden, effort over 2f out, no extra inside final 1f.

PITY CASH (IRE) faced a stiff task in this grade and was well held; mid-field, driven over 2f out, keeping on when bumped over 1f out, not recover.

THATSALLIMSAYING (IRE) probably didn't achieve as much as what most do when second in listed company at Newbury last time, that a weak race for the grade, but this isn't a run to judge her on, doing plenty up with the pace but already on the retreat when some scrimmaging with her stablemate over 1f out finished her off.
