A fittingly increased turnout for the first running of the Dick Poole as a Group 3, the bare form in a clustered finish probably not quite so lofty as most renewals but the 2 with the best form - and likely most potential - still fought it out; as the congested margins imply it wasn't a clean race, mainly due to the field congregating in a group towards the far side, though the main action ended up taking place near side as the principals drifted across.

NEW PROVIDENCE capped an already promising start to her career by making the breakthrough at Group level, quickly establishing herself as a tough, reliable and useful juvenile, the first-named characteristic counting for plenty in her battle with the once-raced runner-up; in touch, travelled fluently, shaken up under 2f out, chased leader final 1f, found plenty to lead post; will continue to give good account, nothing to suggest there isn't more improvement in her given her progress to date.

MARSH HAWK was just as at home back at 6f on less testing ground and, whilst coming off narrowly second best on the day, enhanced her potential, clearly a smart prospect to achieve as much as she has so soon, the concession of experience to the winner making the difference after she'd gone like the best filly in the race; prominent, shaken up 2f out, edged left whilst quickening to lead final 1f, kept on well but caught post and had no time to respond.

STROLL PATROL has improved with each run, shaping well this time to boot considering she's looked in need of a step up rather than step down in trip; waited with, switched left around field halfway, progress 2f out, kept going well, barely adequate test.

VESNINA ran about as well as could have been expected, upped in grade and kept to 6f when likely to benefit from a return to 7f and beyond; mid-field, outpaced halfway, effort 1f out, closed all the way to the line; she remains capable of better.

ROYAL RAZALMA (IRE) up in grade, reproduced her previous effort, or at least would have had she kept a true line, hindering her challenge by drifting, costing her at least a length in all likelihood, the waywardness best put down to prevailing greenness for now; chased leader, ridden when hung left from 2f out, stuck to task.

PRIZE EXHIBIT failed to back up her dubious Nottingham effort, fair to say her rider looked at pains to hold her together for as long as he could, something about the way she carries herself not sitting well; dropped out, steady headway over 1f out, carried head high, ran on, not unduly punished.

EFFLORESCENCE (USA) needs to settle down, the ability there but her demeanour yet to catch up, briefly stretching the field (even dropped to 6f) as she pressed on 2f out only for her early enthusiasm to tell, collared inside the final 1f.

PRIMROSE VALLEY faced a stiffer task in this grade, a fact compounded by an unhelpful return to 6f, not to mention clipping heels as she pulled hard tracking the pace.

TOUCHLINE was found out in better company on the face of things (never better than mid-field), though very much looked after once a spot of trouble 1f out sealed her fate; she should still do better.

ZIFENA though one of the most exposed, wasn't seen to best effect regardless, the principals already in full flow by the time she was asked for maximum effort, staying far side to boot as the action took place on the opposite side of the course.

PASTORAL GIRL after 6 weeks off, failed to back up dubious latest effort; close up, lost place over 2f out.

DANGEROUS MOONLITE (IRE) disappointed without having the ground as an excuse this time, the trip likely not one either, ridden by halfway and wandering as she folded.

AMAZE ME was out of depth upped in grade after her debut fourth in a maiden, duly never on terms.
