could easily be excused his last run, has other notably strong form this spring and wasted no time getting back on track, putting up a career-best effort to win in taking fashion; waited with, tanked along, in touch 4f out, had to wait for gap over 2f out, quickened to lead over 1f out, soon clear; he hasn't been the easiest to win with but is extremely tough and invariably gives a good account.

stepped up on comeback run, this longer trip seeming in his favour these days, but he's not entirely straightforward and showed that with how he went about things here; in touch, went in snatches, lost place home turn, headway under pressure out wide over 2f out, stuck to task, no impression on winner.

again shaped better than the bare result and left impression he should have finished a couple of lengths closer; dropped out, travelled better than most, switched wide around 3f out, ran on but had been left with too much to do.

hasn't hit top form yet this year but took step back in right direction after poor effort last time and didn't have all that hard a race; chased leaders, pushed along 3f out, left behind over 1f out, not unduly punished; his mark will continue to edge down.

was back down markedly in trip after 8 months off and needed the run, no doubt with targets in mind back over further; slowly into stride, soon led, headed over 1f out, faded.
