A few of those with seemingly better form claims didn't run up to their best, meaning Clon Coulis needed to do no more than return to hers to win her first listed race, powering through from the rear in a race which appeared to be run at no more than a fair gallop, Marilyn having dictated.

CLON COULIS (IRE) probably didn't need to improve with several others failing to show their very best form, but she did prove beyond doubt that the ground isn't overly important to her and that she stays 1m really well, increasing options no end as a result; dwelt, raced off the pace, travelled as well as any, still plenty to do entering straight, good headway over 1f out, stayed on to lead well inside final 1f, going away quite quickly at the finish.

PROMISING RUN (USA) was down in grade but had a 7-lb penalty to carry for her wins earlier in the year and, whilst running creditably on the balance of her British form, was again around 10 lb below the level of form she's seemed to achieved at Meydan over the last couple of seasons; tracked pace, shaken up approaching straight, challenged inside final 1f, no match for winner final 50 yds as that one stromed away.

PATTIE after 3 months off, ran well upped in grade, especially as she was caught wide from her draw for a long way, but we know enough about her not to get too carried away with the performance; patiently ridden, headway approaching straight, challenged under 1f out, no extra.

STAGE NAME was back at a more realistic level and ran to a useful level, seeming more professional this time; dropped out, headway under pressure entering straight, kept on; she's got a BHA mark of 85, which is likely to remain unchanged after this, and probably has the ability to be competitive from that sort of mark.

MARILYN ran as well as could be expected up in grade, remembering the most recent of her handicap wins had been achieved from a BHA mark of only 70; dictated, kicked on entering straight, worn down final 1f.

SHENANIGANS (IRE) should have been there or thereabouts back in listed company but turned in a rare poor effort, pretty much the first under pressure and possibly not 100% on the day; mid-field, ridden 3f out, not quicken straight; she's the type to bounce back sooner rather than later.

ISABELLA (IRE) had something to find with a few of these stepping out of handicap company but still might have been expected to fare better, settling well enough without the hood yet not seeing things out thoroughly back at shorter; close up, shaken up approaching straight, weakened approaching final 1f.

FEATHERY needs her sights lowering; mid-division, dropped away under 2f out.

PACO'S ANGEL has been acquitting herself well in similar company but ran poorly this time, a bit hard to believe that more patient tactics were necessarily to blame; patiently ridden, dropped away early in straight.

FINALE wasn't up to this better company; in touch, weakened entering straight.
